In this paper, we have described the principal and the structure of the induction melter for metal melting applied in the industry. For the decommissioning of the nuclear power plants, the induction melter would be the most useful technology for metal waste volume reduction. If the induction technology is applied for the Korean nuclear decommissioning, we would like to recommend that the power is about 1.1MW for the carbon steel waste treatment with the dual type inverter, i.e., dual induction melters with tilting type need to be installed at the same place to enhance the waste throughput.
