This study aims to trace the effect of mentoring programs performed to solve
maladjustment problem of adolescents from multicultural families. Survey was
performed on 424 middle schools and high schools students from multicultural
families who currently are enroUed in Gwangju Metropolitan City and ]eollanam- do,
Korea. Of those, the students who have experiences taking mentoring program
account for 35%. The study results indicate that mentoring experience has significant
influence on personal and school adaptation factors: adolescents from multicultural
families with mentoring experiences shows more self-esteeming and enthusiastic
attitude and better adjustment to school such as recognition of school and
relationship with friends and teachers .than those without mentoring experiences
These study results may be useful approach to maladjustment to school for
adolescents from multicultural families. It also suggests that it be necessary to
expand the opportunity for them to participate in mentoring programs
