The darker side of excessive competition in entrance examinations and increased adolescent problem
behaviors have been increasing continuously in our society. Accordingly, it appears the mistery of
education are trying to solve this case in school education. Accordingly, recently-announced basic
plan for development of character education(2017) includes policy research, planning for optimizing
the class size of elementary, middle and high schools. Especially recently-announced basic plan for
development of character education(2017) lay emphasis on Liberal arts for improvement of character
education. In this regard, this study aims to draws the implications that humanities education and
educational neuroscience gives character education. For this, First, this study reviews the
meaningful research results of humanities education and educational neuroscience. Second, this paper
consider the recent discussion of character education in Korea. Third, in a humanities education and
educational neuroscience prospective, this study inquire the implication on character education in
respect of a perspective of learner and educative purpose, content selection and methods etc.
