The purpose of this study is to investigate the location and characteristics of general students
in inclusive classes who nominated students with intellectual disabilities(ID) as their friends
through the multiple case analysis and how they relate to the social context of the inclusive
class individually. The subjects of this study were three middle school inclusive classes in
Gyeonggi, and one students with ID were in each class. The total number of students who
nominated students with ID as their friends were 7(three, one, and one per each class
respectively). As a result of the study, it can be seen that the characteristics of the peers who
designated the students with ID as friends were divided according to the characteristics of
social network of the inclusive class. In the case of the inclusive class in which the social
network positively formed, the friendship with the students with ID showed a tendency to form
mutual relationship with their peers. In addition, all of these peers had high social status and
prosociality, and had a positive relationship with teachers. On the other hand, in the case of a
negative social network of inclusive class, the general students who achieved the social status
through aggressive behavior in the class, thereby forming a negative relationship with the peer
and the teacher, designated the student with ID as a friend. Based on the results of the study,
discussion and suggestions for future research were generated.
