The purpose of this study is to reveal the change of awareness of disability among middle
students by projecting the process of a subject; Understanding of Disability, through the
curriculum of middle school Korean Language. The method of this study is action research and
the participants of this study include Inclusive Classroom of 29 middle school students who are
28 non-disabled students and one student with disabilities, and four class observers. The data
collected throughout four lessons were analyzed using inductive method.

outcome of this study presents; two parent categories of ‘you, and we’ and ‘diversity than
difference, deference than discrimination’, eight sub categories, and 31 meaning units, as the
change of perceptions of disabilities among middle school students.
Based on the result of this study, the change in awareness of disability among middle school
students via Korean Language classes was discussed, a follow up study was suggested.
