The purpose of this study was to determine the efficacy of Transitive Conditioned Motivating
Operation(CMO-T) training to mand in a child with language delays over a year. A multiple-probe
design across behaviors was used for the study. The authors designed the setting for examination which is
applicable to CMO-T training. Once antecedent stimulus was presented, when the participant’s response
was correct, he was provided by the object he manded. However, when he showed incorrect response,
echoic prompts were provided, then he got the object he manded when he used echoic-mand. Three tasks
for the intervention were chosen for CMO-T training; puzzles, pegs and threading beads. The authors
examined alteration in the participant’s mand by applying CMO-T training to the tasks they have chosen
for the intervention. Results indicated that the participant’s mand showed an increase in all three tasks
during intervention phase, and he could use mand without any prompts during maintenance phase. It is
significant that the result data of this study suggests detailed CMO-T training for establishing mand
skills.
