The six core competencies for the implementation of the ‘Pursuing Human Character’ presented in the 2015 revised general National Curriculum were converted to specific core competencies through reconstruction according to the uniqueness of each subject. In the art subject, there are five core competencies developed and proposed in accordance with the direction of the general curriculum and the unique characteristics of the art subject itself. Although each subject’s core competencies of 2015 revised National Curriculum are located as a mediator linking ‘Pursuing Human Character’ and the goal of each subject, It is necessary to make more practical suggestions in connection with Pursuing Human Character, each subject’s goals, the content system, achievement standards, instructional methods and evaluations. Therefore, this study proposed five categories of Pursuing Human Character, and five core competencies in the art subject. In order to strengthen and activate each subject’s core competencies, it is suggested that there should be stronger links needed in constructing the National Curriculum framework.
