The purpose of this study is to analyze the various formative values about the emotional expression of
traditional paintings through the brush stroke which can be observed in the traditional paintings and to
implicate this idea for art education. In the general understanding the concept of the line of traditional
paintings, there are some perfunctory understanding the concept of the line for students living in the
contemporary period, so if the study is suggested by the concept of 'Diversity', the students could learn
more creatively and easily. Considering the contemporary cultural context, the multi-dimensional study
on the various meanings of traditional paintings are very essential. This research has the implications
for traditional art education that broadens our understanding of the concept of the line in Ink wash paintings,
which is included in the idea of the brush stroke, by revisiting its ideological and aesthetic significances
in traditional art.
