Women with disabilities are living with sufferings from discrimination with disabilities, discrimination in gender and poverty problems while they are being isolated from the society with insufficient opportunities in the overall areas in the education, employment and social participation among others. With regard to these aspects, this study aims at identifying the fundamental understandings on problems about the employment of women with disabilities and providing foundations for the development of effective employment policies for women with disabilities. For such purposes, this study utilized data from the National Survey on Persons with Disabilities in 2008 to identify situations on the employment of women with disabilities, compared characteristics of a group of the employed women with disabilities with those of a group of the unemployed women with disabilities, and analyzed factors affecting the employment decision in an empirical way. As a result of studies, women with disabilities were characterized in their employment with the low employment ratio, low wage and instable pattern of employment among others. Their employment decision was significantly affected by the age, whether or not they receive the basic living security and whether or not they are a head of a household among the sociodemographic characteristics, and by the subjective health conditions, type of their disability, degree of their disabilities and degree of help in their daily life among the characteristics of their disabilities. Human capital characteristics and labor market characteristics other than those characteristics appeared to have no significant impact on their employment. Based on these findings, the study suggested plans for the social integration through the employment of women with disabilities.
