This study analyzes the appropriateness of practical tool applications for
social welfare practice sites by evaluating the research trend of The Person
Picking an Apple From a Tree (PPAT), the most prevalently used drawingbased
assessment applied as qualitative performance measurement tools for
collective programs. In order to analyze the trend of the PPAT, this study
evaluates a total of 49 research papers written between 2008 and 2015.
The results of the trend analysis are as follows: First, this study finds active
research projects using the PPAT by years and the recently studies particularly
show the PPAT applied to various target populations from children to elders.
Second, this study uses the qualitative performance measurement method
applying the PPAT and quantitative performance measurement method using
surveys for drawing the research results. This study conducts the research
trend analysis of PPAT prevalently applied in the studies assessing the
effectiveness of individual and collective counseling practice sites for its
extensive usage in social welfare practices.
