人類社會在進入20世紀以來迎來了空前絶後的大災難。殖民主義侵略、兩次世界 大戰、冷戰時期發生在蘇聯與東歐國家的對知識分子的迫害等事件在世界範圍內掀起 了前所未有的移民大潮。另外,世界經濟全球化造成了資本與人力的國際性流動。漫 漫歷史長河中,移民潮不斷湧來,人們在回首歷史,探索人類社會與文明,觸摸人性脈絡的過程中移民文學受到關注。綜合作家身份及閱歷,作品主題等多個角度來看, 21世紀初的諾貝爾文學獎集中授予給了移民文學。比如高行健(2000年)1),維․ 蘇․奈保爾(2001年)2),凱爾泰斯․伊姆雷(2002年),約翰․馬克斯韋爾․庫切 (2003年),多麗絲․萊辛(2007年),赫塔․繆勒(2009年)等。作爲文學家,上 述作家在生存方式或創作主題上有一個顯著的共同點,那就是移民,他們的個體生命 與文學生命都源於移民。

영문초록

The purpose of this paper is to examine the identity of Diaspora literature by way of the works of V. S. Naipaul and Gao Xing Jian. Both V. S. Naipaul and Gao Xing Jianare all, so-called, wanderers, not rooted in one culture and/or in one country. However, in terms of diaspora literature, their identities and writings are much different from each other. In the case of Gao Xing Jian, he is an exile who is self-imposed to absorb in writing freely out of the repressed political realities. He insists that any good writing should express the inner voices, totally free form any ideologies of politics and social practices. In a word, his writing can be said to be “the writing having no ideology.” In addition, with ‘distancing’ he can see his mother-country with objectivity. And with that objectivity, he can look from the outside into the inside and create his own insight on the national culture. On the other hand, V. S. Naipaul, the third generation of immigrant, is an exile forced by the colonial situation. Regardless of his own will, he is expelled into strange land and can not take root in any places. As he can not feel at home in any places in India, Trinidard, nor UK, his works show clearly his desperate efforts to search for a stable place to root in. The similarities and differences of the insight and viewpoint by these two wandering writers will be a good basis to speculate on the diversity and direction of the next century diaspora literature.
