The purposes of this study are to verify the relationship between teacher's burnout and personality characters based on the Big Five personality factors, and to investigate which factor affects teacher's burnout the more than others. The data was collected from 675 teachers of 6 elementary schools, 6 middle schools, 5 academic high schools, and 5 vocational high schools in Busan. The instruments used for the data collection were IPIP (International Personality Item Pool) and TBS (Teacher Burnout Scale) to measure the degree of teacher's burnout .The data was analyzed by Pearson Correlation Analysis to see the correlations between the Big Five personality factors and burnout and by Stepwise Multiple Regression Analysis to see the effects of the Big Five personality factors on teacher's burnout by using the SPSS 12.0 program. The results of this research were summarized as follows : First, there were significant positive correlations between neuroticism and burnout. Teachers with neuroticism showed positive correlations with some sub-factors of burnout such as stress and job satisfaction. Second, it showed that neuroticism had the hightest influence on teacher's burnout and conscientiousness had the second greatest influence among the Big 5 factors. Limitations of the current study and the suggestions for further research were offered.
