This study has aimed at examining the effects of literatherapy on depression, self-efficacy and peer relationship of
depressive adolescents. For this study, among middle school students in U city who volunteered and participated
in examining 'Self-rating Depression Scale', 20 of 16 points or more depressive adolescents were selected and
devided into 2 groups, one is an experimental group of 10 students and the other 10 students were of a
control group separated. No invention was taken with the control group. In order to verify the effectiveness of
this program, all the subjects for depression scale, self-efficacy scale & peer relationship scale were examined by
measuring before and after implementation of the program.
The findings of this study were as follows. First, depression of the experimental group experienced with
literatherapy program was lower than that of the control group. Second, self-efficacy of the experimental group
experienced with literatherapy program was more enhanced than that of the control group. Third, peer
relationship of the experimental group experienced with literatherapy program was more enhanced than that of
the control group. Finally, based on the finding, limitations of current study and the suggestions for further
research were offered. These results suggest a need for help in school or within the community for accessing and
prevent psychological problems in various aspects of youth who experience psychological difficulties.
