This paper discusses the development of a memory training system designed to improve students'
short-term memory for consecutive interpreting. It is important for interpreters to fully understand and
memorize what the speaker says in order to perform accurate interpretation. Therefore, students are requested to engage in memory training inside and outside classrooms to enhance their memory skills.
Since the memory training requires a pair of students to work together to check the accuracy and errors of
their partner, it tends to consume a relevantly long time, making effective training difficult. On the other
hand, individual students training on their memories on their own has limitations. With the advancement of
information technology, numerous tools are currently being developed in order to facilitate interpreting
training. However, most of them are for in-class activities and not for self-training. We developed a system
which is desgined to enable individual students to perform self-paced memory training, thus raising the
efficiency and effectiveness of their training outside classroom.
