Through conducting survey, this study aims to explore immigrant women’s difficulties in adjustment to Korean society and the ways in which art therapy program contributes to their needs. To sum up the result, first of all, immigrant women have hard time adjusting to new environment; their lack of communication skills and difficulties in finding Korean advisor reveal that those women are in need of more social support. The biggest challenge was financial issues followed with educational problem, marital conflicts, and acculturation. Secondly, the survey shows that most of current art therapy programs for immigrant women are provided by multi-cultural support organization and those women’s reason for participating is to find emotional help. Thirdly, the participants’ are highly satisfied with the programs and many of them preferred group therapy where they could participate with their children. Also, it is revealed that art therapists must have a high understanding of cultural difference as it was crucial in running therapy program for multi-cultural family.
