This study is a descriptive study to examine the relationship between perfectionism, anxiety, and
academic stress in nursing students. Data collection was conducted from August 01, 2017 to August 14,
2017 using structured questionnaire and 159 nursing students attending a 4 - year university in B city. The
data was analyzed with SPSS 21.0 program using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation
coefficient, and Scheffe's test. The perfectionism was 3.20 ± .43 on the scale of 5, anxiety was 2.14 ± .30
on the scale of 4, and academic stress was 2.60 ± .66 on the scale of 5. Perfectionism was significant
difference according to academic achievement(F=4.895, p=.009). Anxiety was significant difference according
to sex(t=2.768, p=.006), selection motives of nursing(F=3.055, p=.019), satisfaction of college life((F=3.595,
selection motives of nursing(F=3.835, p=.005), satisfaction of college life(F=7.515, p<.001), satisfaction of
major(F=6.202, p<.001). Perfectionism had a significant positive correlation to academic stress(r=.53, p<.001)
and anxiety(r=.28, p<.001). Based on the results of this study, it is necessary to develop a counseling and
nursing intervention program that can alleviate perfectionism.
