The purpose of this study is to provide empirically basic materials of integrated education by examining college students\' attitudes toward integrated education of physically handicapped students.
Subjects of this study were 149 students, who did not studying special education in G City and their attitudes toward physically handicapped students were examined.
This study used a scale for integration of physically handicapped students: 「basic attitude toward integrated education」,「recognition of physically handicapped students」,「advantage of integrated education」,「disadvantage of integrated education」, and「system and equipment necessary to integrated education」. A total of 91 items of these five sub-areas were used to examine college students\' attitudes toward integration of physically handicapped students. The Cronbach α coefficient of this scale was more than 0.883.
The results are as follows. For the recognition of physically handicapped students, only 36.2% of college students was positive in integrated education of physically handicapped students. The order of positiveness in five sub-areas was as follows:「System and equipment necessary to integrated education」(47.7%),「advantage of integrated education」(41.6%), 「basic attitude to integrated education」(36.5%),「disadvantage of integrated education」(30.2%),「recognition of physically handicapped students」(24.1%).
For the characteristics of positiveness of five areas,「system and equipment necessary to integrated education」was most positive, while「recognition of physically handicapped students」was most negative.
For the positiveness according to college students\' contact with the handicapped, contactors(27.5%) were more positive than non-contactors(8.7%) in all areas. For the difference of positiveness according to contact,「system and equipment necessary to integrated education」was found biggest. In other words, contactor(37.6%) was more positive than non-contactor(10.1%).
