Focusing on mothers who have disable child, this study aimed to adopt a bibliotherapy program to reduce their stress factors out of all challenges they face in daily life. The purpose of this study is to execute a bibliotherapy program for mothers having disable child and verify its statistical and substantial effectiveness, and provide technical and efficient basic materials for adult bibliotherapy program.
This study applied a bibliotherapy program to the mothers of disable children who were placed under the care of welfare center clinical business team. And in order to analyze effectiveness in this study, the stress scales of experimental group and control were analyzed using a statistic program called SPSS Win 12.0. Stress factors were analyzed with pretest and post-test and their significances were verified through t-test. In addition, this study addressed substantial variations of stress as well.
The results of this study can be summed up as follows: The mean of stress scores the mothers of disable children gained in the bibliotherapy program varied more significantly in pretest than post-test. And out of all sub-factors of stress, it was found that more significant effects worked upon psychological stress than on economic, social, physical and educational stress. Moreover, case analysis also indicated positive progress and possibilities. Interviewees revealed positive changes such as psychological stability, mental comfortableness, hope, and so on.
Summing up these results, this study can come the a conclusion that this program could help the mothers of disable child identify themselves and feel catharsis and consoled through reading books; build up communication abilities; and find psychological supports via self-help sessions.
