A longitudinal study was conducted to figure out the effect of bibliotherapy on Juvenile
delinquency. For the purpose five delinquents who had experienced the reading activity
class at counselling center were participated for 7 years as study participants, and a narrative
inquiry technique was used. The results of the study are as follow: The reading activities
complemented with discussion and narrative technique assisted the participants 1) in
healing their previous wounds provided with means to alleviate distress, and needed
catharsis. 2) in building confidence and self-esteem, 3) in normalizing their world by
overcoming the feelings of isolation. It has been ensured that establishing a close rapport
between subjects and researcher is prerequisite of the bibliotherapy.
