This article reviewed the studies on the impact of visual impairment on anxiety levels among adolescents with visual impairments. This article described and evaluated empirical studies which investigated the manifest anxiety levels of this population. Despite professional concerns about anxiety problems of this population, the studies did not provide substantial evidence that visual impairment itself, or varying degrees of visual impairment, affected anxiety level. Other variables, such as age, gender, and IQ, were important in describing anxiety levels of this population. This article concluded with a discussion of the implications for assessing personality characteristics of adolescents with visual impairments.
