본 연구는 “특수학교 교과용 도서 체제 개선 연구(2007, 국립특수교육원)”의 일환으로 이루어진 것으로 시각장애학교 교과용 도서의 문제점과 개선 방안을 알아보는 데 목적이 있다. 우선 5개 시각장애학교를 방문하여 교과용 도서의 활용과 개선에 관한 의견을 수렴한 다음 이를 토대로 설문지를 작성하여 10개 시각장애학교 교사 200명의 의견을 수렴하였다. 의견 수렴 후 전문가 협의회를 통해 내용을 수정ㆍ보완하였다. 크게 점자교과서, 점자지도, 이료교과, 확대교과서 및 전자도서에 관하여 교과서와 교사용 지도서로 나누어 그 사용 실태와 문제점 그리고 개선 방안이 제시되어 있다.
The purpose of the study was to examine problems and improvements of textbooks for the blind as a part of ‘A study on evolution of textbooks structure for special schools (Korean Institute for Special Education, 2007)’. Above all, the study collected opinions for utility and improvement of textbooks, visiting five schools for the blind. On the basis of the collected data, the study drew up a questionnaire and collected opinions of 180 teachers in 10 schools for the blind. After collecting opinions, the study amended and supplemented contents through consulting with professionals. The study divided braille textbooks, Braille instruction, Iryo textbooks(Therapy textbooks), extended textbooks and electronic books into textbooks and guide books for teachers and proposed actual conditions of utility and problems and improvements.
