The purpose of this study was to develop plans for integrated support system for child abuse prevention focusing on finding abused children and after care system. Child welfare law amended in 2000 made a clear statement that the nation have a responsibility for child abuse, and mandated establishment of child protection agency in Korea. Considering increasing child abuse, however, the effort of child protection agency alone is not enough.
This study suggests the development of integrated support system with consideration of case management process of child abuse case. The case management process of child abuse case consists of five stages: 1) report and intake, 2) investigation and initial assessment, 3) assessment and intervention decision, 4) service provision, and 5) case close and after care.
In the case management process of child abuse case, child protection agency should be the center, and integrated support system of various related organizations in the community should be developed and utilized. The related organizations in the community include government organizations, police and justice organizations, medical organizations, educational organizations, law organizations, and social welfare organizations.
With the development of integrated support system for child abuse, child abuse will be able to be prevented. As a result, welfare and right of all children in our society should be granted.
