The purpose of this study was to apply basic sport skill teaching program using developmentally appropriate tasks. First, the teaching program consisting of well prepared lesson plans for elementary teachers were presented to ensure them teaching good physical education lessons. Second, after applting basic sport skill teaching program, physical fitness, basic sport skill, satisfaction, cooperation, and effort were investigated.
The responses of the children participated were overwhlmingly related to \'having fun\', \'learning sport skill\', \'experimental success\', and \'playing those games over and over again\'. The experimental groups of tow schools were significantly better then the control group in physical fitness levels(p.<.001). Applying these programs were effective in rolling (p<.000). passinh (p<.009), and throwing (p<.000). The fourth graders of experimental groups showed statistically significsnt differences in cooperation (p.<.001) and effort (p.<.000). Also there were statistically significant differences in degrese of satisfaction about physical education(p<.000).
