This case study was to investigate the protective factors that enhanced the school adjustment of children from divorced families. Two female 3rd graders were selected based on the school adjustment questionnaire. Semi-structured interviews of the children and their mothers, analysis of children\'s documents and diaries, and observations were conducted. Common protective factors drawn from both cases were high academic ability and self-efficacy, receptive and warm parenting style of mothers, high academic aspiration and support of mothers, open communication between the child and the mother, support from extended family members, and recognition and support from friends and teachers. Factors such as child\'s perception of parents\' divorce, the extent of parental explanation about the divorce, post-divorce economic stability, contact with the non-custodial parent, the number of siblings were not consistent in two cases.
