본 연구에서는 중학생들의 가정의 심리적 환경과 지적능력에 대한 신념(항상성,향상가능성) 및 학업성취간의 상호관련성을 살펴보고, 지적능력에 대한 신념이 가정의 심리적 호나경에 의해 영향을 끼치는지, 그리고 가정의 심리적 환경이 학업성취에 직접적으로 영향을 끼치는지를 살펴보았다. 본 연구는 서울과 경기지역에 소재한 4개 중학교에 재학하는 472명의 학생들을 대상으로 하였으며, 응답이 불 성실한 학생 141명을 제외한 나머지 331명의 학생들을 최종분석대상으로 하였다. 본 연구결과, 지적능력에 대한 신념, 가정의 심리적 환경 및 학업성취간 유의미한 상호관련성이 있는 것으로 나타났으며, 지적능력의 \'항상성\'에 대한 신념은 가정의 심리적 환경에 ㅡ이해 부정적인 영향을 받아 학업성취에 부정적인 영향을 준 것으로 나타났다. 반면에, 지적능력의 \'향상가능성\'에 대한 신념은 가정의 심리적 환경에 의해 긍정적인 영향을 받아 학업성취에 긍정적인 영향을 준 것으로 나타났다.
This study was to explore the causal relationship between middle school students\' beliefs about intellectual ability, family process, and academic achievement. Subjects were 331 middle school students in a metropolitan school district, Korea. Their average age was 14.75 years. Measures of their beliefs about intellectual ability, and family process were administered. Moreover, as their academic achievement, their mid-term and final-term exam records were collected under their agreement. Structural equation modeling techniques were used to test the relationships among the variables. It was found that family process affected their academic achievement via their beliefs about intelligence (entity and incremental). More specifically, it was observed that family process positively affected their academic achievement via one\'s incremental beliefs about intellectual ability, whereas family process negatively affected their academic achievement via one\'s entity beliefs about intellectual ability.
