The purpose of this study was to examine the ability of children\'s delay
of gratification and various factors that influence delay of gratification. The
data were collected from 73 children\'s, aged 5, who were enrolled in H
elementary school annexed kindergarten and S elementary school annexed
kindergarten, located at Gunpo City, Gyeonggi-do Province, South Korea by
using K-WPPSI, CPS test, task concentration test and delay of gratification
test.
For analysis and comparison of collected data, frequency analysis, t-test,
correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis were performed using
SPSS software. The results were as follows: First, differences among
children\'s intelligence, problem -solving and task concentration span by sex
presented the superior ability of female children\'s but there was no
significant difference. Second, differences among problem-solving, task
concentration span and delay of gratification by intelligence group
presented the superiority of highly intelligent group in all the variables as
well as significant effect. Third, as a result of analysis, significant
correlations were observed among children\'s intelligence, problem-solving,
task concentration span and delay of gratification. And there was no
significant effect of children\'s problem-solving and task concentration span
upon delay of gratification.
