This study is for the influences of the intervention on the two sides. First, by reflecting the personality of alcoholics that have difficulties in the relationship with others and adaptability about the reality, and by understanding the ego states that is suffered from repetitional alcoholism problem, we try to activate the propensity of the character that want to change themselves. Second, by changing the position about the alcohol dependence problem of self, others and world to the “I’m OK-You’re OK”, we try to help them to correspond and to be adapted to the problems that happen from the relationship between themselves and others related with drinking. For that, this study analyzed the change of the positions about themselves and others, and also analyzed the change of the subordinate factors of the ego-state like critical parent, nurturing parent, adult, free child and adapted child. From this analysis I verified the effect of transactional analysis program. For the achievement of these goals, the main subjects of the analysis are as below. First, is transactional analysis program effective to activate the ego-state of the alcoholics? Second, is transactional analysis program effective to change alcoholics life position to “I’m OK-You’re OK”? For verifying the above subjects, this study organized experiment group(8 people) and comparison group(8 people) among the alcohol dependence inpatients that is diagnosed as alcohol dependence by the DSM-Ⅳ in the B hospital of the Boseong-kun. The period of the study is from June 26th, 2006 to August 25th. And transaction analysis program is done for the purpose of the change of the life position to “I’m OK-You’re OK” and activation of the ego states twice a week through the preceding interview. The summary of the study results is as below. First, to confirm the change of the ego states and life position of both groups, before the intervention of transactional analysis program, I tested both groups if they have same quality about the ego-state and life position. The results confirmed that both groups have same quality. Second, the hypotheses of the effect that transactional analysis program influences ego-state and life position are as below. Hypothesis1: In the pretest-posttest of the ego-state of the experiment group, transactional program have influence on the ego states. Hypothesis 2: After operation of the transactional analysis program there are meaningful change in the life position of the groups in the level p<0.05. In conclusion, the Transactional Analysis Program is effective in changing alcoholics ego states and life position to “I’m OK-You’re OK”.
