The purpose of present study was to examine whether awareness of imaginations and decentering mediate
the relations between self-compassion and psychological well-being. For this purpose, the sample of 482
adults were asked to self-compassion scale, psychological well-being scale, awareness of imagination scale,
and experience questionnaire for decentering. The results are as follows: First, it was revealed the
self-compassion and awareness of imaginations, decentering, psychological well-being have the positive
correlation. Second, awareness of imaginations partially mediated the relation between self-compassion and
psychological well-being. Also, decentering partially mediated the relation between self-compassion and
psychological well-being. Third, it revealed that self-compassion directly influenced psychological well-being.
In addition, self-compassion increased awareness of imaginations which in turn contributed to decentering.
Decentering influenced psychological well-being. Finally, the counseling implications, several limitation of
the study and the suggestions for future researches are discussed.
