It is not easy to find exact meaning about international cooperation
Education(ICE) because it is the first time to try to apply the elementary
curriculum. The concept of ICE is very confusing, which is thought similar
to global citizenship or international understanding education, but generally
this is the concept of practical part whereas global citizenship education is
more focused on the part of thought. To apply ICE to elementary
curriculum, we need to find not only the definition of ICE but also the
direction and the character of the lesson. To try to study, I make
three-period of lesson plan and put it into action. The 1st period is to
induce the students to find the reasons of poverty and find out why we
need to know this by themselves. The aim of 2nd period is the direction
and the way of government or organization is doing for international
cooperation, lastly the 3rd period, the students need to find how to do IC
in a good way.
As a result, I found that the students have better empathy ability than
adults and they have many interest of global issues. They have enough
capacity to learn about this field. Actually, this study is just one example for students in special area, but it can be a meaningful try because there
is little research case for this.
