The purpose of this study was to explored and investigated a scholastic factors for establishing to
scholastic identity and to looked at a form of scholastic identity of art therapy(or studies) in Korea.
Therefore, this study was discussed and explored the unique research subjects, research methodologies, and
knowledge systems of art therapy(studies) in Korea. Followings are the result of this study. First, study
issues of art therapy(or studies) are therapeutic subjects, therapeutic methods or techniques, and therapeutic
effects. As a result of, critically, therapeutic subjects are the same as therapeutic subjects of disciplinary
such as rehabilitation, medical science, special education, pathology, and psychology. And, did not revealed
a clear causal relationship between the therapeutic method or technique and therapeutic effect. In particular,
it does not provide a clear causal relationship between the therapeutic activity and the type of material
used in art therapy and therapeutic effect. Second, the research method that is most faithful to put their
research goal based on the accurate understanding on the variety of research approach, research methods,
and research design. You do need to select a wide range of research methodologies, including different
model, such as the arts-based research and action research approach that can be quantitative, qualitative,
and mixed research approach. Third, now you can see that art therapy in Korea is based on psychology.
However, art therapy(or studies) should be based on more rigorous analysis of the theory of counseling
and psychotherapy in a state that is based on the theory can be disuse and unscientific. And linked to the
correct understanding of how the medium of art studies and a logical and systematic exploration will be
carried out the scholastic investigation.
