The purpose of this research was to analyze the perceptions of directors and mothers in terms of
the director-mother relationship and how mothers' perceptions influence the level of mothers'
satisfaction in the child care. Participants were selected as the survey group, 36 directors from
home-based day care centers and 311 parents of 0-2 year-old children attending these centers. The
research tool was designed based on by Chan-ju Lee(2001) which was developed from the
Parent-Caregiver Relationship Scale(PCRS). The questionnaire for level of mothers' satisfaction on child
care was designed based on Tae-kyung Kil(2003). The results were as follows:firstly, there were
significant positive correlations between the directors' and mothers' perception of the director-mother
relationship , the directors’ perception was generally more positive. Secondly, mothers' perceptions of
the relationship with the directors had a high correlation with their overall level of satisfaction, the
director-mother relationship held 54.1% power of explanation to the mothers' level of satisfaction
with the child care provided.
