The purpose of this study was to explore possible rules and regulations or programs to
meet the needs of pre-service students admitted through admission officer system. Rules and
regulations or programs offered by foreign teacher education institutions were analyzed.
Also, a survey data were collected from 1,464 students who were studying at a national
university of education in Korea and analyzed to figure out how to adjust their academic
life at the university. This study concluded the following:
First, the characteristics of students who enter into universities of education through the
admission officer system will be more various than ever before. Thus, there are strong needs
of developing academic programs for them to adjust well.
Second, honors program would be better to offer for those academic ability is very high,
and scaffolding tutor-tutee program for those academic ability is very low.
Third, since the law for teacher qualification without test will be burden for students to
meet the requirement, course drop and incomplete systems should be offered for those who
possible fail courses.
