The purpose of this study was to identify the problems of the teacher aptitude test administered to the applicants for the elimentary and secondary Teachers College admissions and to provide the solutions to them.
Identified problems were largely (1) that the concept and definition of the teacher aptitude were not uniformly established, (2) that the time in which the teacher aptitude test was given was not appropriate and (3) the types, content, and methods of the teacher aptitude test were not valid. For these reasons, the test results had a lot of weaknesses in their validity and objectivity.
The present study provided solutions. The teacher education Colleges are recommended to stop immediately administering the teacher aptitude test to their admission applicants and to evaluate the candidates' teacher aptitude just before the employment with the accumulated College achievement and the teacher employment examination including various performance evaluations. It is also suggested to conduct further research about this issue in order to enhance the effectiveness of the teacher aptitude evaluation.
