The purpose of this study was to analyze the curriculum of elementary physical education in Western Australia, to understnd the characteristics emphasized in school physical education from the integral viewpoing, and to provide the basic data and suggestions necessary in developing and revising the curriculum of elementary school physical education in Korea. the Australian curriculum of elementary physical education was analyzed in terms of implementarion, goal, contents, and evaluation. First, systematic and organizational development of curriculum was performed. The currirulum served as a guide, but the variety of education and implementarion of student- centered physical education curriculum were put into emphasis. Second, teaching contents and the number of teaching hour were different according to the provinves and schools. Schools and teachers had the right to make decision, because the autonomy and flexibility of curriculum management were given. Teaching contents were shosen independently depending on the educational situations and facilities through interation with the local communities. Third, health and physical education was one of 8 compulsory subjects and taught from kindergarten to 10th grade. It consisted of the contents and kinds of sport from the theme-centered integral perspective. This model of curriculum was run in terms of teaching moving and sport. fourth, the contents were composed by the concept- centered organization. The concept- centered curriculum suggested to the students what to know and to do through health and physical education.
