본 연구는 미술치료학 전공 석사학위과정생이 ‘미술작업 중심 교과목’ 내에서 체험하게 되는 미술작업의 본 질적 의미를 밝히고자 하는 목적을 갖고 Max van Manen의 해석학적 현상학적 연구방법론을 취하였다. 본 연 구의 참여자는 모두 15명이었고, 자료 수집은 2013년 8월부터 2014년 4월까지 이루어졌다. 수집된 자료를 분석 하여 12개의 본질적 대주제와 30개의 하위주제를 도출하였으며, 연구 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 미술작업 경험 은 미술치료학 전공생으로서의 정체성을 형성하는 밑바탕이 되며, 전공생에게 자신을 보다 깊이 이해하고 이전 과는 다른 삶의 자세를 갖게 하는 단초를 제공한다. 둘째, 미술작업 경험은 미술치료학 전공생에게 개인적 성 장과 실습생으로서의 자기 각성이 긴밀하게 연결되어 있음을 깨닫게 한다. 이러한 체험을 통해 전공생은 개인 적·전문가적 성장을 위해 자기분석이나 개인 미술작업의 필요성을 인식하고 자발적으로 실천하게 된다. 셋째, 미술작업 경험은 미술작업 과정과 그 안에서 일어나는 역동에 대한 이해를 경험적으로 갖게 한다. 이를 토대로 미술치료학 전공생은 현장에서 실습생이 가질 수 있는 어려움을 극복하고 더 나아가 전문성을 함양하게 된다.
The purpose of this study is to comprehend the implications of art-making experiences for graduate students in art therapy in the context of 'art therapy classes focusing on art-making.' This study applied Max van Manen's hermeneutic phenomenological methodology. Fifteen graduate students were selected as participants. Researchers conducted in-depth discussions from August 2013 to April 2014 until the data were saturated. The participants derived 12 broad subjects and 30 sub-topics through analysis of materials. Three conclusions were made as follows. First, the art-making experience based on developing one's identity as a graduate student enables art therapy students to better understand themselves and take a different perspective in life. Second, the art-making experience causes students to realize that one’s personal growth is interconnected with one's professional development. It also provides opportunities for students to discover and pursue personal and professional development on their own through self-analysis and voluntary art-making. Third, the art-making experience enables students to understand the process of art-making. Students can actually practice these practical findings during on-site training as well as overcome any difficulties in the future and continue developing their expertise.
