The purpose of this research is to investigate how the group art therapy applying transactional analysis
affects parenting style and parenting stress of housewives. The participants are housewives with at least a
college education and with children from six to seven years old. Consisting of eight mothers respectively
for both the experiment and control groups, sampled results of Parental Child-Rearing Attitudes Test (PAT)
and Parenting Stress Index test are verified by repeated measure analysis of variance and paired t-test with
SPSS Statistics Version 20.0. In terms of results, first, the group art therapy using transactional analysis
shows impact on the parenting styles of housewives and on the autonomic, democratic, intentional,
apathetic, consistent attitude of the lower section. Second, the group art therapy with transactional analysis
shows effect on reducing the parenting stress of housewives and on fastidious temper of the lower section.
Therefore, Recognizing the effect and importance of parenting style and parenting stress on the children,
there should be preventive study on the housewives of different ages and various situations consistently in
the further research.
