국문초록

대구시가 2007년 3월 27일 케냐에서 열린 국제육상경기연맹(IAAF) 집행이사회에서 ‘2011 세계육상선수권 대회’ 최종 개최지로 확정됐다. 이로써 대한민국은 독일, 프랑스, 일본, 스웨덴, 스페인에 이어 세계 3대 스포츠 이벤트인 FIFA 월드컵, 하계올림픽 및 세계육상선수권대회를 모두 개최하는 6번째의 국가가 되었다. 2011년 대구세계육상선수권대회는 8월 27일부터 9월4일까지 9일간에 걸쳐 약 210여 개국에서 선수·임원·기자단 등 7000여명이 참가해 46개 종목의 경기가 펼쳐질 예정이다.

영문초록

The purpose of this study is to investigate how elementary-school students think of hosting the event, how the athletics education in elementary school is being attained, and how much students know, perform and have interest in athletics activities, at the time when World Championship in Athletics 2011 is hosted by Daegu. To achieve the objectives of research, it carried out random sampling in 8 schools, distributed totally 620 students to 2-3 classes per each school, and collected 598 copies(89.7%), targeting 6 graders of elementary school in Daegu area. And, 590 students were selected as the research subjects except 8 copies that failed to be sincere among them. The collected data were analyzed by frequency, χ2-test, and multi-response with SPSS Win program. Given summarizing the analyzed research results, those are as follows. First, in the recognition related to host of World Championship in Athletics 2011, it is very encouraging that 67.2% of elementary-school students are recognizing a fact of hosting the event. However, the source of information on a fact of hosting the event was indicated to be mass communication in students more than a half, thus the influence of mass communication is being realized. On the other hand, what was indicated that the learning was not almost attained in the dimension of physical education will be no matter to be seen that the recognition of the educational world on the event is being reflected. Fortunately, it is hopeful that students in an absolute majority think to be proud of hosting the event and that students more than a half showed the intention of participating in view or in a proper role during the period of the event. Second, the actual condition of athletics education was surveyed and analyzed by being divided into general recognition, cognitive aspect, psycomotor aspect, and affective aspect. In the general recognition, students, who have low preference and participatory level in physical activities, are showing very low participatory ratio in athletics activities as well. The above result suggests that athletics activities need to be changed into educational activities of experiencing cultural phenomenon by reconsidering on traditional skill-base learning. In the cognitive aspect, it was indicated to be 64% in a case of having responded to know a little, as for the cognitive level of events and of a method in athletics. However, just 31% responded correctly to a size of track, thus the knowledge was indicated to be very short. In the psycomotor aspect, all the items were indicated to be experienced harmoniously, but to be relatively very low in the experience of throwing. A change in an instructional method, which considers the characters of an event accompanied by a risk, is required. In the affective aspect, as an interest in athletics and athletes was indicated to be very low on the whole, this is judged to originate from a lack of opportunity that will face athletics directly due to individual and social factors. And, what many students have experience of watching the athletics in TV and also what students have high intention of viewing afterwards in stadium despite of having very few experience of direct viewing, suggest that students can be led to a playground if a properly educational motive is given. Overall, in relation to the host of World Championship in Athletics 2011 and to the realities of athletics education, what will be noted was indicated that the lower preference and the lower participatory level in physical activities lead to few experience and to negative attitude in athletics. In the educational dimension, consideration and preparation are required.
