The main purpose of this study is to review the current issues of research on choice for enhancing motivation to learn in terms of learners' characteristics (competence/self-efficacy, age, gender, prior knowledge, and prior interest), the range of choice and task concreteness, learning activity(individual/small group), and learning environments(competition, assessment/feedback, and cultural difference). Based on previous studies, we discussed the implications of choice in school setting. It was suggested that we have to make the opportunities of choosing levels of instruction to learners, to contain education for talent and aptitude considering learners' needs(e.g., interest and concern), to delete the division between the department of literature and science and give the chance of career exploration to students and to construct autonomy-supportive learning environment for enhancing motivation to learn. Moreover, it was highly recommend that task choice for learners should be expanded within a certain range for improving autonomy and intrinsic motivation
