Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of a multimodal psychoeducational program for
family caregivers of persons with dementia living at home. Methods: A nonequivalent control group pre and
post-test design was used. Participants were 34 family caregiver; experimental (17), control (17) recruited from
families using a dementia support center in S city. The program of multimodal psychoeducation components was
given in eight 2 hour weekly sessions. Participants were interviewed at baseline and at the end of sessions. As
outcome variables, caregivers’ burden, depression, and problem coping behaviors were measured. Data were
analyzed using x2-test, Fisher's exact test, and Mann-Whitney U-test with the SPSS program. Results: There was
a significant reduction in caregiving burden, depression, and emotional coping behaviors for family caregivers
in the experimental group compared to the control group. Conclusion: Results indicate that a multimodal psychoeducational

coping behavior in caregivers of persons with dementia.
