As National Competency Standards are introduced to increase employment opportunities
specialized or Meister high school students for realization of competence-based society, job
consultants’ roles are being emphasized. Despite the importance of job consultants, few studies
have examined the competencies that are required for the job. Therefore, the role of job
consultant who match right people with suitable jobs have been increasingly considered as
important. In this sense, this present study aims to investigate the tasks for selection of
educational contents aimed for job consultants at specialized or Meister high schools. In order to
attain this purpose, the tasks of job consultants are analyzed by employing DACUM, through
which the responsibilities and tasks are derived. In addition, a survey is conducted in order to
examine the current levels and need levels for each task, in which the education needs are
analyzed through t-test, Borich need assessment model and the Locus for Focus Model. The
results show 6 responsibilities and 55 tasks. Findings from the analysis of the education needs by
t-test, Borich need assessment model and the Locus for Focus Model suggests that education for
job consultants should include 12 tasks in total. This study has implication that job
competencies-based educational programs should be provided to for job consultants to successfully
perform required tasks.
