This study was designed to identify the differences of parent-adolescent communication styles according to the psychological preferences. The subjects were 189 middle school students. The results were as follows; First, there were differences in communication styles in between extraversion and introversion psychological preferences. The introverts tended to have malfunction communication styles with their parents. Second, there were no differences in communication styles in between sensing vs. intuition and thinking vs. feeing preferences. Third, there were differences in communication styles in between judging and perceiving preferences. The perceivers tend to have malfunction communication styles with their parents.
In conclusion, there were differences in communication styles in between psychological preferences, Thus, the psychological preferences are needed to be considered as an influencing fact for parent-adolescent communication conflict.
