The purpose of this study was to compare knowledge, attitude, perception, and nursing skills about physical restraints among nursing personnel in long-term care hospitals according to physical restraints guideline. Data were collected from 260 employees working in long-term care 3 hospitals with physical restraints guideline and 3 hospitals without physical restraints guideline. Knowledge, attitude, perception, and nursing skills about physical restraints of nursing personnel in long-term care hospitals with physical restraints guideline was significantly higher than without physical restraints guideline. The significant predictors of nursing skills about physical restraints were knowledge, attitude as nursing personnel in long-term care hospitals with physical restraints guideline. The significant predictors of nursing skills about physical restraints were age and attitude as nursing personnel in long-term care hospitals without physical restraints guideline. As a result, it is necessary to improve the competence of individuals who can provide safe and high quality nursing care by providing practical and concrete guidelines that can be commonly used by healthcare providers in the use of physical restraints and educational program.
