Based on a case of group art therapy activities for elementary students who were participating in an after school study program at the Community Center of A Area where the majority of the residents were of low income class, this study examined change in low income family children’s creativity and analyzed the sub factors of their creativity in order to see difference among individuals and among the sub factors. In this study, TTCT tests were conducted before and after the program, and the results showed general improvement in the children’s creativity. In particular, all the children made significant progress in ‘originality’ and ‘resistance to premature closure.’ In addition, HTP tests were conducted before and after group art therapy activities and various emotional problems in low income family children were examined together. According to the results, the children showed increased confidence and emotionally stable expressions after the activities, and their expressions after the activities were relatively consistent with themes compared to those before the activities. The results of this study suggest that the application of group art therapy activities to low income class children promotes their creativity and emotional stability, and develops thinking abilities.
