The purpose of this study was to investigate whether the relations between parenting behaviors and adolescents ego resilience are different by gender. A total of 2,108 high school students(male 1,075, female 1,033) were selected from the fourth data sets of the Korea Child and Youth Panel Survey(KCYPS). Descriptive Statistics and Hierarchical multiple regression were conducted using SPSS/WIN 22. For parenting behaviors, monitoring, affection, reasoning, and neglect were measured. The results were as follows. First, monitoring, affection, reasoning, and neglect were related to adolescents ego resilience after controlling for parent s education level, family income and gender. Second, affection had bigger impact on female s ego resilience than male s after controlling for parent s education level and family income. Third, reasoning had bigger impact on male s ego resilience than female s after controlling for parent s education level and family income. Based on these results, several suggestions were made to improve parenting behaviors and adolescents ego resilience by gender.
