Job design research has generated many insights unto the relationship between job characteristics and job satisfaction. Hackman and Oldham’s job characteristics model provides a conceptual framework for the relationship between core job characteristics and job satisfaction. This study empirically analyzed the effects of core job characteristics dimensions on worker s intrinsic job motivation and overall job satisfaction based on job characteristics model. The study sample consisted of 392 workers in the manufacturing industry. Data for the analysis were collected through questionnaires. As a result of analysis, the core job haracteristics that have the greatest effect on the intrinsic job motivation and overall job satisfaction of the workers were found to be the feedback, and the importance of the task was found to have a great influence next. Therefore, in order to increase the intrinsic motivation and overall job satisfaction of workers, it is necessary to raise the feedback level of the job so that workers can fully understand the process and results of their work. When a worker is able to recognize and control his or her job performance process and result, the worker s job completeness increases. In addition, by increasing the level of importance of work, workers should be aware of their job as an important task so that they have pride and responsibility for their job. The workers perceive that their work has a significant effect on the achievement of the goals of the organization and its members, the worker will become more involved in his or her tasks.
