본 논문은 그간 논의되지 않았던 이식의 『初學者訓增輯』을 발간‧구성‧특징 측면에서 논의한다. 이식은 정단몽의 『字訓』과 진순의 『字義』의 한계점을 인식하여, 그 두 자훈서를 절충한 『訓增輯』를 집필하였다. 이식은 글자의 자훈 원리를 중심으로 개념어를 설명하면서, 연관 개념간의 논리적 관계를 학생들이 이해할 수 있도록 하였다. 또한 이식은 이전의 자훈서에서 언급되지 않았던 구체적인 덕목 개념어들을 대폭 추가하였다. 『訓增輯』은 정주리학의 기본입장을 충실히 수용하면서, 천(天) 본위사상 및 역학적 원리를 기반으로 하여 작성되었다. 이러한 관찰을 통해, 본 연구자는 이식의 『訓增輯』이 교육적, 사상사적 가치가 적지 않은 문헌이라고 결론내릴 수 있었다.
This paper introduces Leesik(李植)’s a dictionary of Neo-Confucianism terms, Chohakjahunjeungjib(初學者訓增輯), which has not been discussed before, in terms of its publication, composition, and characteristics. He recognized the limitations of Chengduanmeng(程端蒙)‘s Zixun and Chenchun(陳淳)’s Ziyi, and wrote a new book that synthesizes on the two books. From an educational point of view, he emphasizes the logical relationship among the related concepts, with the focus on the principle of the character combination. In addition, various virtues are supplemented in the book. He faithfully accepts Zhuxi s basic position on the ideological front. Also, I find that this book is based on the concept ‘Tian(天)’ and the principle of Yijing.
