This study developed and reported on the psychometric characteristics of an instrument to assess the adaptive skills of elementary students with visual impairments, including those with multiple disabilities. The instrument was designed not only to discriminate between students with visual impairments and those with visual impairments who also have other disabilities, but also to identify the strengths and weaknesses in adaptive skills for both groups. The instrument was evaluated in terms of item difficulty and discriminability, reliability, and validity, using data on 72 teachers' evaluations of 315 elementary students at 11 special schools for blind children. The instrument was found that it would be useful to identify and evaluate the educational needs of students with visual and multiple impairments.
