The purpose of this study is to explore the picture books of Gabriel Vincent and to find the meaning of early childhood education. For this purpose, Gabriel Vincent s picture book un jour, un chien was analyzed. The educational significance contained in it is as follows. First, the meaning of the picture composition is the drawing and the croquis technique using only minimal coarse line and black and white contrast is utilized. With a strong sense of touch, from the day to the evening and the night, the story of the day was drawn up to a deep part that can not be expressed. Second, the meaning of the story hidden in the picture is the story of abandoned dog from car window that in contains various emotional changes ranging from sadness, longing, happiness that has come back. It is possible to interpret the psychology, the mood, and the situation that can occur realistically with the only picture. Therefore, it is meaningful as a book that is suitable for early literate children who are not accustomed to writing. It is a viewing book, not a reading book. This suggests that young children can develop their own stories and develop visual literacy.
