Abstract The purpose of this study is to develop a love scale based on the concept of Fromm s love as a rationale for married men and women in their 30s and 50s. After analyzing the domestic and foreign studies on love for research purposes, we analyze the limitations of the existing scale and propose Fromm s concept of love as an alternative. Six subscales were extracted from the constitutional concept of Fromm. Six subscales included self love, motherly love, fatherly love, erotic love, brotherly love, love of God. First, after developing 100 basic items, 60 items were selected from the first preliminary question through expert discussion, and 324 married men and women were subjected to preliminary tests, followed by item analysis, exploratory factor analysis, and reliability analysis 22 items were removed. For this test, data were collected from 868 subjects, followed by item analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, and reliability analysis. One item was removed and the final 38 items were selected. The exploratory factor analysis to confirm the validity of the scale was composed of six factors of self love, motherly love, fatherly love, erotic love, brotherly love, love of God with principal component analysis and orthogonal rotation method. Also, confirmatory factor analysis was performed to confirm the factor structure between the constituents of love. The reliability coefficient of the developed love scale was found to be good between .72 ~ .86. The result of this study complemented the limits of the existing love scale and reflected the characteristics of psychological development and various human relations, And it is meaningful in terms of presenting a new concept of integrated love including human growth and development.
