The purpose of the study is to examine the effect of art activity coaching method on young children’s
drawing and appreciation ability.
The experiment of the study is conducted in the group activity time twice a week. In the first art
activity, children can draw the picture freely based on the theme while art activity coaching method
is done by teachers. In the second art activity, the children look at the drawing models seen at the
first activity and naturally teachers’ coaching is performed.
The results of the study are following:
First, art activity coaching method significantly affects on the mprovement of children’s art
expression ability, such as context, details, originality, appropriate use of materials, and harmonious
composition of a picture.
Second, art activity coaching method is effective to improve young children’s art appreciation ability
such as ability to observe the artworks, the understanding of the artist’s purpose, mood in the artworks,
and materials, and drawing technique.
